Why is Next Level having a 3 on 3 tournament?
1. Basketball is fun and that is sometimes forgotten. To finish off the basketball season it is the intention of Next Level to remind everyone to play for the fun of playing by getting all the basketball people together referees, top division, 1st and 2nd division clubs men´s and women´s teams, younger and older teams, novice players and fans all participating at the same level playing basketball for the enjoyment and appreciation of the sport.
2. It is a great chance for the younger players to be able to talk to basketball stars no matter what team or division you play for. A young player from a small club outside reykjavik or reykjarnes can play in the same event as a Teitur, Logi, or Brenton of UMFN the ICELANDIC CHAMPIONS! For them to be able to talk to or interact with means a lot to them not to mention the experienced players may be able to give them some good advice. Referees who believe it or not are people too, are able to have fun with club players in something that is not as serious as an Icelandic championship. Clubs are important to the success of this event but it is not for any specific clubs benefit outside of just being able to promote basketball in your community. Next Level is not part of any club all that we want to do is to help promote basketball in Iceland.
3. It is a great opportunity to promote basketball in it´s purest form. The rules are simple no running up and down the court so regardless of what kind of shape you are in you should be able to do your best based on your skills.
